My path to Cybersecurity

As an IT professional I performed security related functions in my work, but when I became trained on Cybersecurity fundamentals from a dominant figure in the industry, this is the catalyst that drew me to begin pursueing this field.

While collaborating with TDN and education provider in cybersecurity we decided to launch a toastmasters club focused on cybersecurity awareness, Ai and Generative Ai and with much hard work we achieved a complete and finalized chapter in November of 2022.  I was heavily involved in recruiting and mentoring chapter leaders and members.

With my facilitation skills I trained brand new Cybersafe trainers how to Train with the CertNexus CyberSafe curriculum.

While getting acquainted with the industry I became most familiar with 3 different Nonprofits including OWASP, ISSA and ISC2 which laid the groundwork for my entry in the industry.

Industry conferences Planet Cyber, ISSA Summit, Techno Security and Layer One also allowed me create relationships that I likely never would have found otherwise.

To pursue learning and development I have pursued certifications with Cybersecurity platforms such as Qualys and Splunk, KC7 for developing threat hunting, CySA+ and Pentest+ from CompTIA and my coaching credential Limitbusters coaching.

To further develop my influence in the Cyber Industry I joined ISSA LA's board as I work to strengthen partnership's and collaboration in the industry.
